To Iulius Agrius Tarrutenius Marcianus, of clarissimus and illustrious rank, remarkable for his nobility, justice, eloquence, and authority, and tested at the first bloom of maturity, quaestor ( quaestor candidatus ), praetor ( praetor candidatus ), governor ( consularis ) of Sicily, governor ( proconsul ) of the East, legate of the most important order [Senate] three times, prefect of the City, and judge in the imperial court of appeal for the second time.
