To Flavius Marianus, of perfectissimus rank, commander of the fleet ( praefectus classis ) and curator of the city ( res publica ) of Misenum, who with arguments in our favour provided, restored and dedicated the wooden bridge which was for a long time collapsed and abandoned, and through which no one could pass; on account of his services, the most respectable council ( ordo ) to a worthy patron [set this up].
