A A thank-offering and gift for the savior Asclepius, Nikomedes the doctor [arranged] this most beautiful statue of the child, that which you devised skilfully for the Meropians of the boy Paion new-born to his mother by the god, a testimony of the inventive skill of you Boethos, and Nikomedes dedicated it for mortals as a life-saver both from sicknesses and evils and as proof of the immortal hands. B A thank-offering and gift for the Lord Asclepius, Nikomedes the doctor from Smyrna, had prepared with good intent a statue by the fine hand of you Boethos, of such as was the newborn which the child-birthing goddess brought forth to unshorn Phoebu from a maiden s from the flame, Paion Asclepius, and your attendant [Nikomedes], having avoided sickness through your advice, dedicated it in the temple to be seen often as a life-saver, a small gift of prayer of such a sort as ephemeral mortals give thanks to the gods. (on side) Aurelius Marinus, of perfectissimus rank, officer in charge of the imperial fisc ( rationalis summae rei ) [set this up].
