(Statue of) Petasius. To a man of outstanding integrity and incomparable prudence as well as of every goodness, Flavius Petasius, of perfectissimus rank, former governor ( ex praeside ) of the province of Tripolitania. The council ( ordo ) of the most splendid city of Lepcis Magna, by its own decree and by acclamation of the people, mindful of the merits conferred upon them by his excellence, set up a statue in the new Severan forum, for the memory of eternity, to a most worthy patron.
