Translation EN

. . . . . . he conveyed grain from Egypt . . . . . . cheaper [freight charges?] . . . . . . preferring [to gratify?] (5) the Athenian People, and in [all] the other [affairs of the city] has continued to make himself useful at every opportunity, and having ransomed many citizens from Sicily, he despatched them to Athens at his own (10) expense, and displaying privately and publicly towards the People the good will, which he has inherited from his ancestors, has now [donated a talent] of silver for public protection (phylakēn) , for good fortune, the People shall decide: to praise Ph-ios (15) son of - of Salamis and crown him with a [foliage] crown for his good will . . .
