(5). . . for good fortune, the Council shall decide, that the presiding committee allotted for the forthcoming Assembly shall put these matters on the agenda, and submit to the opinion of the Council to the People, that it seems good to the Council to praise . . . and crown him with a (10)[gold crown for his excellence] and the goodwill that he continues to have towards the Athenian Council and People, and to announce the crown at the City Dionysia in the new tragedies and at the Panathenaia and the Eleusinia in the gymnastic competitions; and he shall be granted citizenship and be (15)enrolled in the tribe and deme and phratry that he wishes; and the court presidents (thesmothetas), when they fill the courts with the five hundred and one jurors, shall introduce the scrutiny of his grant; and on his augmenting (epauxonti) in the future his good will towards the Athenians, as far as he may be able, he may be (20)honoured worthily by the People with other greater honours; and the generals shall take care of the making and announcement of the crown; and the prytany secretary shall inscribe this decree on a stone stele and stand it on the acropolis; and the treasurer [of the military fund] (25)shall allocate [the expenditure] accrued [for it].
