For the outstanding thoughtful work of your virtue, glorious Montius, best of governors, who having straightened up the machine for drawing of water (= aqueduct) which for many years lay on the ground, and adorned it for the city, and, having made the river travel for 300 stades [and] having pierced the mountains, you made it finish in the city. On account of which the awestruck council ( boule ) of Tralles has set you, Montius, up on this work, a saviour [and] founder.
