[Statue of] Iulianus, of clarissimus rank. To Postumius Iulianus, of most illustrious memory; because of the service, love and piety which he showed towards all his fellow citizens, he was considered well worthy; who in his will, mindful of our honouring, retained the memory of this, and in the will left to all us citizens of Praeneste, whom he loved with deep affection, the house in the territory of Praeneste, whose name is Fulgerita. For him, a most worthy patron, because of this same thoughtfulness [and] whose defence and vindication we all seek, we have, with ready mind, decided to erect a statue, and, because of his great love for the city, that all the citizens of Praeneste are to hold a feast, twice a year or more. A copy of part of his will: ‘Postumius Iulianus, of clarissimus rank, being in good health, safe, of sane mind, and good counsel, mindful of the human condition, have made this bequest, amongst others: to all the citizens of Praeneste I wish to give the house in the estate of Praeneste called Fulgerita, in the region of Campania and the territory of Praeneste, so that annually without fail they celebrate my spirit, and that they place a statue in my name in the forum and inscribe there this my will; and they are not to have the right to dispose of this property, so that, if they seek to alienate it, the imperial fisc will take it over.’ [On the side] He died on the 16th day before the Kalends of December, in the consulship of our lord Arcadius Augustus and Bauto of clarissimus rank. Dedicated on the 4th day before the Nones of March, in the consulship of those mentioned above.
