Playing the sweet-sounding kithara, Pindar said that better than the all-nourishing soil and the immortal air and the tireless fire was the gleamingly streaming water alone, which also the blissful were longing for. With this in mind, Apollinarios, father of Stratonike (=Stratonikeia), had the water pipe/aqueduct renewed and brought water for the town and its inhabitants' delight after trouble and and exertion.
