To a man of extraordinary goodness and integrity, Valerius Romanus, of clarissimus rank, curator of the city ( res publica ) of the most splendid colony of the Siccenses and of Venus. On account of the restoration of the statue of the goddess which was taken by bandits who had broken the walls of the temple. The faithful followers of Venus, to spread his memory through all centuries, set up (this) statue to their patron with devoted love.

Last Statue of Antiquities
Einem Mann von bewundernswerter Güte und Integrität, Valerius Romanus, von senatorischem (clarissimus) Rang, Aufseher unserer Stadt (curator rei publicae) [gilt diese Ehrung]. Die allerglänzendste Stadt (colonia) der Siccensier und der Venus [stiftete dieses Monument]; wegen des [von ihm] wiederhergestellten Kultbildes (simulacrum) der Göttin, das vor langer Zeit von Dieben gestohlen worden war, die die Mauer des Tempels durchbrochen hatten, haben die Venerii (Bewohner von Veneria Sicca, oder: die Kultgemeinde der Venus, s. Kommentar in LSA) ihrem Patron in treuer Liebe diese Statue aufgestellt, um die Erinnerung an ihn in alle Zukunft weiterzutragen.
