[Statue of] Anicius Bassus. To Anicius Auchenius, of clarissimus rank, governor ( proconsul ) of Campania, judge representing the emperor, most exceptional patron and remarkable in all things; [this] outstanding and special gift, glorious above all other honours, the ‘Esquiline’ region set up (this statue), as a memorial of all the things rightly done.
